I work with adults across Texas, especially professionals who seem to have it together on the outside while carrying anxiety, overwhelm, or trauma on the inside.
You can make a plan and handle a crisis like a boss,
AND you feel like you’re on fire while drowning at the same damn time.
You do not have to fall apart before you deserve support.
You might recognize yourself here
- You keep showing up at work or for other people, but anxiety and inner struggles take more energy than anyone sees.
- You overthink decisions, scan for what could go wrong, or feel responsible for keeping everything under control.
- Life on the outside looks stable(ish) but on the inside you feel a mess.
- You want a place you can explore the intersections of LGBTQ+ life with all the other parts of you without having to explain why affirmation matters.
- You are tired of advice that sounds simple until you try to live it on a Tuesday afternoon.
- You want to be a person, not a diagnosis.
You need not have a particular job title, income, diagnosis, or polished story to belong here. “Professional” describes people I often speak to; it is not a requirement for therapy.
What our work can look like
I’m Shane Hennesey, MEd, LPC-S. I’ve spent more than 30 years working with people facing anxiety, trauma, and LGBTQ+ concerns. I know you are more complicated than a checklist, and I won’t hand you a motivational poster and call it therapy.
My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We pay attention to what your mind is doing, practice making room for difficult feelings, and take steps toward what matters to you. Your brain may have excellent arguments for staying stuck. We can hear them without letting them run the whole damn show. And no, acceptance does not mean liking what happened.
If trauma processing fits your needs, EMDR and the Flash Technique may be part of our work. We decide together what to work on and which tools fit.
I’m direct, collaborative, and willing to laugh with you when the moment calls for it. I take your pain seriously. I’ll also help you notice when an old way of protecting yourself is getting in the way of the life you want now.
You are a person, not a diagnosis.

Sessions are online for clients located in Texas. You can read more about me and current fees before deciding whether to reach out.
If some of this sounds familiar, book a consultation. We can talk about what brings you here and whether working together makes sense.
